She - A Poem about The Feminine Soul

She - A Poem about The Feminine Soul

I wrote a poem about the Feminine Soul for you that I wanted to share. It was inspired by my dear friend Eefke who is currently undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer. The whole backstory is below the poem.

She

She creates and cultivates

With storm and floods and fire.

She looks within and remediates with

All of our heart’s desire.

She is silent but always knows of all.

She is with us, ever-present.

She can let us rise or let us fall,

Whether king or queen or peasant.

Trust is all we must give into and surrender.

For she knows best for all of us, for any race or gender.

She mourns, grieves, hurts and feels

And repairs, regroups, rebuilds and heals.

From the deep darkness she comes,

With a natural force so great.

Her soul is soft and fierce at once,

Without a single cell of hate.

She strikes with everlasting truth

And slays all that’s forlorn.

Gone are the broken yesterdays.

The feminine soul is born.

The Rebirth of Eve - A piece inspired by the poem “She”

The Rebirth of Eve is inspired by my dear friend Eefke who is currently going through treatment for breast cancer. I was with her the day her hair started falling out and it touched me immensely. How she dealt with everything, accepting her emotions for what they are, being incredibly honest and open throughout the process, and remaining so much herself in all that.

Her strength and authenticity in this uncertain, exciting process full of chemo treatments and their side effects, made me picture a woman who was bald, but who took a deep breath from her primal strength and, with her eyes closed, started a new chapter and let life grow and bloom. It symbolizes rebirth, a creative force that resides in every woman.

A beautiful, no-holds-barred energy that does not judge, but is just undeniably there. The feminine energy wants to move forward, make things grow and flourish. Primal woman Eve provides beauty, in the midst of crises and disasters. She is there to pass on love, no matter who you are in life.

The image reflects how resilient and strong women can be. How beautiful she is in her pure essence. But also that she does not give up, because healing is inherent in her energy. I also see beauty in dark times. Which is very cliché saying that there is no light without darkness. But I see it that way myself. Because who would we women be if we gave up in the face of adversity?

I hope you like this piece. And note that when I talk about a woman, I also include persons with a uterus as I don’t want to exclude anyone. (If you notice an error in my inclusive language, please dm me at yvonnedutchartist@gmail.com. Thank you.)
